K.O'C. ENGINEERING
Description: New 1800 square feet split level dwelling with reinforced
challenges were that the upper level walls were not stacked so therefore
I-beams were introduced to transfer the upper level loads to the perimeter
lower level walls down to the foundation without impeding into the open
space at the lower level. In order to avoid the cost associated with
installing steel moment frames, Simpson Strong Walls were introduced for
the design of the shearwalls taking seismic forces. The roof has a modern
butterfly look with exposed beams to highlight the structural frame.
